H2O On Site goes boldly…

We’ve a lovely new website to promote the bulk and quality assured drinking water side of our operation. www.tardish20.co.uk

H2O on site wave

The site is broken down into three main sections:

Water Supplies           Emergency water supplies           Water quality assurance

In the bulk water supplies section, there’s an overview of our growing tanker fleet, beginning with our towable bowsers which can deliver to difficult to access locations using our Land Rovers. Towable bowsers have capacities of 1 and 2 thousand litres apiece. Our rear wheel steer tanker is also adept at getting in to hard to access places, but that’s got a slightly larger payload of 16,000 litres, clean or potable.

H20 on site towable bowser  H2o on site tanker

We have 16,000 litre stainless tanks which can be used to deliver or can be hired as a bulk on demand water supply, left on site and refilled as and when needed.

H2O on site 16k tanks

On this page of the site, you can navigate your way through our commonest water bowsers. The blue colour denotes they can be used for drinking water. We supply these on short or long term hire to construction sites and event locations.

Bet you didn’t know we did water coolers for short or long term hire.

Two snazzy little numbers which can deliver chilled and hot water on demand. All you need is a 240 volt plug socket and make a choice between the standard model or the natty little desk top number.

These fit nicely into office and site cabins and are a boon when temperatures rise and people get thirsty.

Also on this page, there’s a link to common spec sheets for the vehicles and equipment we send out to site. They are invaluable to help clients establish that equipment is the correct specification for their needs or in the case of vehicles, dimensions don’t exceed the access location.

Our Emergency Water page summarises how 365 days a year, we have service available.

Where water supplies are cut, our trusty Land Rover revs into action bringing the towable bowser in its wake. Alternatively, we can provide pallets of bottled drinking water.

H2O on site landy

H2O On site Land Rover and bowser

We’ve a separate page for bottled water giving the bottle sizes and pallet capacities that can be purchased.

We provide bottled water a plenty during the summer months especially, to the burgeoning event and festival market. Bottled water offers convenience over a single source of supply, where large numbers of people can be provided for in a short period of time.

Our Water Testing Services page provides an overview to our latest range of invaluable water hygiene services

If you are providing bulk water for people to drink, then you are responsible for its fitness for purpose.

Briefly, once you have taken delivery of potable water, transferred from our specially prepared tankers or bowsers, it’s drinkability for want of a better word is your responsibility.

DWI (Drinking Water Inspectorate guidelines state that you can only store water for human consumption for 48 hours (secured from contamination).

H2O on site lab

You then must test for the presence of E coli and again every 48 hours.

This is a service we supply, along with testing for the presence of Legionella.

H2O on site water test

We provide mobile on site testing and where necessary, use UKAS accredited laboratories who provide further test information, all fully documented.

Water Quality Information and Drinking Water Quality tabs on this page provide plenty of information about the guidelines you and we both should comply with where drinking water is concerned.

Water Hygiene Specialist joins the Tardis team

Water hygiene

John Lewis, Water Hygienist – Tardis Environmental

John Lewis Tardis Environmental’s Water Hygiene Specialist

John’s background in water hygiene spans more than 25 years in the fields of industrial and commercial water treatment conducting testing for large companies such as Cadburys, Jaguar Cars, Tesco, Morrisons and local authorities. He also spent several years with Severn Trent Laboratories.

Tardis H2o

Tardis Environmental H2o

John recently joined Tardis Environmental to spearhead the rollout of our new H2O drinking water services program providing both on-site and laboratory based testing for drinking water safety.

On site service, in – lab results

When you’re dealing with people’s health and hygiene, you need to be sure of your water quality.

Tardis Environmental have been in the bulk water business for almost twenty years so we know a thing or two about water.

These days, assuring the fitness for purpose of your drinking water and the cleanliness of your storage methods comes under strict regulation.

With our new laboratory facilities, we can offer you in-house bacteria monitoring backed up with a regular testing program of your stored bulk drinking water.

 Rigorous cleansing, strict procedures

Water hygiene

Towable 1000 litre drinking water bowser

We carry out daily, weekly and monthly chemical and bacteria monitoring providing strict control on the quality of water we supply from our sites which includes the water used to clean the vessels that store your drinking water all carried out following Health & Safety guidelines.

We’ve the capacity via mobile testing equipment, to provide on-site chemical and bacteria testing on water that has been stored for more than 48 hours (following drinking water guidelines). This includes a test for E-Coli analysed by UKAS accredited laboratories.

We carry out on-site cleans and Chlorination of utilities, buildings (such as welfare cabins, toilet blocks etc), providing certificates of work carried out and its compliance with Health & Safety guidelines.

We only use water storage vessels and pumps which comply with WRAS and DWI Regulation 31.

Water supplied is only drawn from wholesome water authority sources.

Other methods (which we don’t use)

Commonly (and for convenience), many testing services use a system known as ATP for on-site water testing, employing hand held meters.

ATP or Adenosine triphosphate is not a foolproof bacteria test, especially where Legionella bacteria is concerned.

To be truly sure of the cleanliness of your drinking water, opt for a sample taken on-site and analysed in a designated UKAS accredited laboratory. Testing for bacteria by these laboratories conforms to guidance set out in the ACOP L8 document and provides evidence ensuring our on-site testing regime is effective.

Tardis Environmental follow strict guidelines set out in ACOP L8 (2013) Legionnaire’s disease, the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems and the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) guidance document on the implementation of the water supply (Water Quality) regulations 2000 (as amended in England 2012)

Tardis says it’s CHRISTMAAAASSSS !

It’s accepted we all like a good rest at Christmas and a mince pie or two, but gremlins never rest and someone has to be on call to deal with them.

Although the Tardis crew will be putting up their Christmas stockings hoping for everything they deserve, the operation is a 365 day a year affair and we will be available for emergency call out.

The same number as usual and the same level of service applies.

We really hope you won’t need us, but we’ll be there if you do.

Thanks for being with us through 2014 and for following our blog, Twitter feed and Facebook page.

We really enjoyed your pictures of Tardis toilets and tankers you spotted out on location, even on the telly. Keep sending them in and we’ll keep featuring them. For meritorious contributions, we have been know to post out some Tardis goodies as reward, so just keep that in mind.

We plan to continue running humorous features and expanding our instructional videos like our recent Crossrail compliant video, which was very well received.

And of course, when the occasion rises, we’ll be dressing up rather like we did in our onesies for Children in need and our wooly pullies for Save the Children.

New tanks on the blog

It’s barely a fortnight ago that we were crowing about our new Euro 6 tankers and our natty rear wheel steer tanker and here we are again with three new additions to our fleet.

We’ve not had the livery applied to these yet, but we wanted to announce our new mid-range 16000 litre clean water delivery tankers.

This tanker is ideal for bulk water deliveries, wash downs, soakaway testing, site water and event water supply, in fact anywhere where clean water is needed.

We also hire petrol driven water pumps, delivering the wet stuff via 2” Bauer fittings. We can supply pipework as required.

Full specification here.

Catch the wave – Bulk water delivery with a difference

We’ve just made a very useful addition to our fleet.  A 26 tonne bulk water tanker which has the added bonus of rear wheel steering allowing it to access where our larger tankers may have difficulty for example, farm gates.

26tonne rw steer H2o tanker

The cultured amongst the Tardis fanbase may notice the likeness of our H2o tanker graphic to a famous woodblock print from the Japanese Edo period.

tardis tanker livery

the great waveThe wave off Kanagawa, around 1830.

Katsushika Hokusai was an artist from the school of Ukiyoe. And he created this.
It is a woodblock print where each of the composing elements of the picture are carved by hand, ink is applied in the relevant colour and then the block pressed down on to paper. The process is repeated with typical unerring accuracy many times until the finished picture emerges.

You can buy an original woodblock print today, it will have been made recently, but still using the blocks carved almost two hundred years ago.

Today’s prints use modern ink pigments, whereas the ones made during the Edo period would have been vegetable based.

Rather like these prints, our rear wheel steer tanker is highly sought after in this case for bulk water deliveries, having a capacity of 16000 litres.

The tanker carries 60 metres of hose and the usual high level of safety equipment for vehicle and driver and we think a nice paint job too!

Tardis and the Crossrail project

Link

Screen Shot 2014-10-31 at 11.44.44

Crossrail, the largest engineering project in Europe and Tardis has been part of it.

In a nutshell, Crossrail is 73 miles of railway set to serve London and the south east, improving journey times and connecting with many existing lines.

As a supplier of goods and services to the project, Tardis Environmental have invested heavily in our fleet to make them “Crossrail compliant”. This includes the provision of safety equipment that is additional to the level we already send our vehicles to work carrying.

44tonne tanker

Fresnel lenses for example, smaller but similar to those found in lighthouses in this instance they are used to bend light allowing a driver to see personnel or cyclists approaching on the inside blind spot.

Side scan detection is now standard Crossrail  equipment, designed to detect cyclists or pedestrians in close proximity to the nearside.

In practice, audible tones or warnings exterior to the vehicle are triggered when the left hand indicator is activated and should there be a person detected in the field of the scan, the driver inside the cab is alerted by audible tone also.

Some side scan systems have the added safety of exterior cameras greatly reducing the chance of a mishap.

In addition, warning livery is added to the vehicle as are under run bars down each side.

Woe betide any contractor who fails to meet the high standards lain down by Crossrail. Exclusion from all sites and fines meted out often being the penalty.

Safety is in everyone’s interest. Our spec sheets detail our Crossrail compliant vehicles which of course can be used elsewhere, where stringent safety is practised.

We’re equally as prepared as Noah

It’s a sad fact that we have a lot of floods in the UK. Many things contribute to the damage and misery flooding brings. Our high rainfall, poor public maintenance of drains and gullies, properties being built on flood plains to name just three.

Winter is approaching and you can be assured that we’ll be responding to a flooding emergency somewhere.

At least you have peace of mind knowing Tardis Environmental are geared up for flood relief.

Our largest tanker is a 6000 gallon capacity vacuum tanker trailer. Tardis tanker drivers, fine fellows indeed, are are well versed in dealing with flooding emergencies at commercial and domestic properties alike, arriving on site fully equipped to deal with the situation, right down to packing their water wings.

Tardis-Sheet-44-ton-Vacuum-tanker

In addition to manpower and heavy equipment, Tardis steps into the breach with a range of submersible pumps which can be teamed up with our waste tanks offering a sound solution to your flooding woes.

submersible-pump-1submersible-pump-2

Modern technology plays its part too, in the form of our amazing Flood Sax tm

floodsax1

Polymer based lightweight gel bags, which can absorb up to 20 litres of floodwater in three minutes. Environmentally safe, they can be disposed of in landfill where they biodegrade naturally.

The Tardis flood response service is a 365 days a year operation so there’s no need to call International Rescue.

Instead dial 0800 731 0589 for prompt emergency service.

Read the signs – Tardis are recruiting

They’re all over the place. Stop signs, no parking signs and signs telling you to give way.

Did you know there’s a reason a Give Way sign is an inverted triangle, when all other information (rather than must obey) signs are the other way up?

The answer being, if the sign is obscured by snow or mud, from its shape alone, you still know it is a Give Way sign, Highway Code and all that.

Currently, there are other signs appearing on our roads, but these aren’t issued by the Department of Transport.

You’ll find them on the back of Tardis trucks and vans and they’re a sign that Tardis is recruiting.

6 Brand New Water Tanks

6 New Water Tanks Have Landed

10,000 Water Tanks

We have just taken delivery of 6 brand new 10,000 litre water tanks. These 10,000 litre tanks are now having the Tardis stickers placed on them and will then have a 3” bauer refill connector. The 3” bauer connector will mean our drivers will be able to refill the tanks quickly, thanks to the easy to reach refill connection point on the tank.

Did you know that you could also hire a WRAS approved water tank from us as well. WRAS approved tanks can be used to house drinking water. When connecting a WRAS approved tank, make sure you use a WRAS approved fitter. Our Tardis fitters are WRAS approved and only use WRAS approved connections for WRAS water tanks. If you don’t use WRAS approved products to connect the water tank then the water tank is no longer WRAS approved and no longer safe for to use as a drinking water tank. All our Tardis driver and fitters are trained and accredited in EUSR Water Hygiene.

If you would like more information on our Tardis Fitter service or would like to book a WRAS approved water tank then give our friendly hire desk team a call today on Free Phone 0800 731 0589.
