Hiring a portable toilet – what do I need to know?

Here at Tardis Environmental, we like to make everything as simple as possible for our clients.

In this post, we have answered a number of important questions which should be considered when hiring a portable toilet, portable disabled toilet, portable shower or portable urinal unit.

Is there adequate access for delivery of the units?
When hiring a portable toilet or other units from the range we offer, the delivery vehicle will depend on the quantity ordered, delivered using a 3.5 ton, 7.5 ton or 7.5 ton vehicle with trailer.

Where will I site the unit/units?
When hiring a portable toilet, the unit will need to be sited where our drivers can easily drop off and collect.

If there is a wall or other obstacle in the way, then a crane-mounted lorry may be required for delivery and collection. Please inform us if this is the case at the time of ordering.

Do I need water, electric and foul waste connection?
Tardis cold wash portable toilets do not need any connections, but may require servicing if on hire for a long period of time or have numerous users.

Tardis hot wash portable toilets require a 240v 16amp connection to an electricity source.

Tardis portable shower units also require a water source and run off for the waste, as well as a 240v 32amp electricity supply.

Additional services?
Tardis cold wash portable toilets are self-contained requiring no additional plumbing or connections. Portable showers and hot wash portable toilets do however require a connection to external services.

We can supply a fully qualified Tardis plumber or electrician to complete the necessary connections. Please talk to the hire desk at the time of booking for more details.

Are the units going to be safe?
We recommend that units are delivered and sited in a location where they are less likely to be stolen or vandalised.

Please be aware, that whilst our units are on hire to you, you are fully responsible for any damage that may occur.

How many portable toilets do I need for my event?
It is important to consider the number of toilets you will require in ratio to the number of people attending your event.

If you are unsure of the numbers, our hire desk are here to help, with experience in both small and large events, we can advise the unit quantities most suitable to your event.

What will be supplied with the toilet?
The portable toilets will be delivered with toilet roll and hand sanitizer, unless sink fitted and we will also supply paper towels.

Once the initial supplies run out, it is your responsibility to replenish consumables unless you have requested us to replenish consumables.

When will we collect the toilets?
We will try to collect the units as soon as possible after the hire period has finished. Please allow up to 5 working days for collection. During this tine, the units are still the responsibility of the customer.
