How can you harvest the rain water?
Did you know that by harvesting rain water you could save up to 50% on the consumption of your household.
How does rain water harvesting work?
Well, it’s very simple… your rain harvesting system takes rainwater from the guttering system of your property, this should be a sealed connection to avoid any debris from entering the rain harvesting tank, the rain water will then pass through a filter system to remove debris from the gutter. Your rain harvester should be located underground and surrounded by concrete. If your system is not protected by concrete then it could cave in or have a root break through the tank. This also happens to septic tanks if not correctly installed.
Rainwater is stored in the tank until you have need of it, there will be a control unit inside your house that will control the water from the harvesting tank. The control unit will be connected to the mains and has sensors inside which will tell whether there is water inside the tank and will choose to use the rainwater if there is enough or switch to mains water supply, this is great for those low rain fall months.
What can I use the rainwater for?
Rainwater can be used for dish washers, washing machines, watering your garden and washing your car.
